Any person who are new to this digital marketing thing, you will come across some SEO Abbreviations which will twist your head now and then. When i was new to this, i went to this event, i was understanding all until he started to put up some MAGIC words in it. So, if you are new, you need not have to worry about it anymore. I have found some abbreviations for you,
ALGO – algorithm : A program/application which determines the search results based on the user’s search query. So next time when you hear about panda, penguin or any algorithm updates, it’s just an update added to that application for the better search results.
CMS – Content Management System : Its sounds scary, but you should have heard of blog platforms, right? Yes, WordPress, blogger or typepad platform enables one to be effectively publish contents in online without technical and programming languages.
CPC – Cost Per Click : it’s the cost the advertiser incurs, for the every click on their advertisements.
CPM – Cost Per Thousand impressions : It’s the cost the advertiser incurs when their ad shows up 1000 times. M – from the Roman numeral for one thousand.
PR – Pagerank : It’s a numerical value given between 0 to 1 on probability on likelihood that a person randomly clicking on links will arrive at any particular page. In simple you can say its the trust factor based on various factors on which 1 means the high probability. And pagerank is named after Google founder Larry Page and it has nothing to do with web page.
PPA – Pay Per Action : It’s the cost the advertiser pays when some user click-through ends in Result. Eg: the advertiser has to pay only if a user buys a product through an ad.
PPC – Pay Per Click : It’s similar to CPC, but it generally means to the online advertising schemes. Adwords is one of the example for the PPC. and in SEO, PPC is usually meant to Google Adwords.
SERP – Search Engine Results Page : It’s the search result page when a user search for a keyword.
SMP – Social media poisoning : It’s probably an unethical SEO practice (Black Hat Practise) to implicate a competitor as Spammer, by Spamming Contents using the competitor brand / Name.
TLD – Top Level Domains : It’s the domain extensions mostly used or with higher in demand. Eg: .com, .net, .in, .org, etc.
