You might have read about some of the abbreviations used in SEO in my previous posts. So here is some of the Jargons used in SEO popularly. Which may help you in the most needed situations.

Canonical Issue

It’s the issue of the duplication of the content. The Search Engines (SE) consider the http://www.xyz.com, xyz.com, http://www.xyz.com as the duplicate contents. So even a single site without proper redirect can be duplicated to itself. The better way to avoid is to use 301 redirect to the single site address either http://www.xyz.com or xyz.com or others.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is the ratio of keywords and the index-able words on a given webpage. Optimal density can be 3-10 %, beyond this the SE tend to consider it as the Stuffing. There are websites to analyse the keyword density of the web page such as ranks.nl, Live keyword analyser.

Keyword Proximity

It’s the closeness between the keywords. Its better to have the closer keywords, so that it will make SE to find relevance and to rank better in the results.

Keyword prominence

Its how prominently your keywords placed in the webpage. Its important, where the important keywords are placed in the page.

So it is important to have the important keywords in the Title tag, Meta tag, H1 tag, Beginning of the paragraph etc.

Keyword Frequency

Keyword frequency refers how often a keyword appears in the content of the page. The important keywords should carry the high frequency. But it is important to maintain the frequency not to exceed the optimum level. Repeating the keyword without relative-ness may consider as stuffing.

Session ID

It’s a unique tracking id which is used to analyse the behavior of the every user. This can create duplication issue for the SEs, as same content will be crawled with different URL.

Link juice

Link Juice is about the authority, trust and quality of the inbound links. Better the quality of the link, better the link juice. Link juice is an aspect google consider when ranking your page. If the links are with no-follow then the bots consider as weak link and if its paid links then it can end up death penalty to your site.

Link Bait

Link bait can be a feature, content or anything that makes someone to link to your site. For example a good and original content encourage users to link back or share your content.

Backlinks

Backlinks are the external links that linked to your web page.

Keyword Cloaking

Keyword cloaking is a Black hat SEO practice. Which is a way of hiding the content from the human eyes and letting it readable by the SEs. Eg: creating a content with font size “0”, keeping text color white in the white background page.

Keyword Stuffing

Keyword stuffing is consciously increasing the frequency of the keywords and including many number of keywords without any relevance and just for the sake of SEs.

URL mod rewrite

URL mod_rewrite is to create SEO/User friendly URLs instead of dynamic.

Robot.txt

Roobot.txt is the command to robots, if to crawl or index web pages. Robot.txt is not required mostly, but at times robot.txt helps not to reveal some data to the public view.
